Patrick CHABRIER is the founder of Chabrier Avocats. He is a Member of the Paris Bar Association and registered in Geneva as a foreign practitioner. Throughout his career, Patrick has been recognized as a leading specialist in all matters relating to the sale, transportation, financing, insurance, and warehousing, etc. of commodities.

Notable work

  • Conducted multiple business or dispute resolution negotiations in trading, maritime and/or banking matters, organized the setting-up of companies and/or group of companies, tax set-ups, mergers and/or spin-offs by and amongst numerous commercial and industrial entities or enterprises as well as joint-ventures, drafted and negotiated multiple contracts for the financing, acquisition, construction and/or lease of industrial plants, mills, warehousing facilities, C.M.A.’s, vessels, etc, in various countries inside and outside the EU;
  • Conducted and/or monitored numerous commercial litigations before various Courts, particularly in France, Luxemburg (C.J.C.E.), Switzerland, U.K., as well as before many Arbitral Tribunals in Geneva (I.C.C., Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Geneva), London (GAFTA, FOSFA, L.M.A.A.), Liverpool (L.C.A. now I.C.A.), Paris (I.C.C., Bourse du Commerce) etc.

  • Iuris Doctor (Commercial Law) of the University of Paris.
  • 1968-1969: Legal Department of Chargeurs Reunis SA (Paris), Holding Company of the (then) largest private maritime (Compagnie Maritime des Chargeurs Reunis, Fabre Line, Croisieres Paquet) and airline (U.T.A.) group in France.
  • 1969-1976: C.L.O. of Compagnie Continentale (France) S.A., Paris.
  • 1976-1982: C.L.O. of Finagrain S.A., Geneva (World Merchandising Centre of Continental Grain Company, New York).
  • Since 1982: Attorney-at-Law practicing in Geneva with local law firms (Troller, Vesely, Petitpierre, which became Maas & Partners), then Ziegler, Poncet, Grumbach before setting up own firm in 2001, mainly acting as Advisor to multinational companies established inside and outside of Switzerland, many of them specializing in international trade and agri-business.
